The Brief

The Surface Design first year students (SOD1) of Cape Peninsula University of Technology have been divided into 4 groups of 4. Each received a colour to knit, of which we were given pink.

The other colours are black, red and light blue.

Next, mugshots were taken of all the Surface Design students. With these (amazingly criminal-looking) photo's the face of SOD1 were created.

               And this is her!

This was done by layering all photo's on top of each other.

Next the image was divided into quarters and pixalated. And this is our section.

The different tones represent the different colours.

Black - Black
Grey - Red
Light grey - Pink
     White - Light blue

Now, each pixel is being knitted and when each group has reached their quota of 90 blocks, these will be knitted together to create the face of SOD1.

We invite you to follow this process with us as we explore the vast possibilities of knitting!
